Approximately twenty-five thousand households in southeastern Queensland were left lacking electricity on the start of the week after powerful weather events passed over the region, bringing strong winds hitting 109km/h.
Massive Hailstones and Broad Destruction
Homeowners observed large ice chunks as large as 7cm in some areas. The Bureau of Meteorology verified that various areas across the state had been affected by large hailstones.

Response teams were working to restore power throughout the impacted areas, with approximately seventy teams activated to handle the widespread outages.
Victoria's Weather Woes
Meanwhile, nearly 1,000 energy customers in Victoria also experienced electricity disruptions after Melbourne saw its most precipitation in 18 months.
Rescue organizations responded to over five hundred emergency reports across the area, mostly for property damage but also for fallen timber and inundation.

Meteorological Predictions
Humid circumstances were expected to linger along much of eastern Queensland this week as a weather pattern continued to draw in moisture against the coastal areas.
Tuesday was expected to become the heaviest precipitation period, with ongoing storm activity expected across various areas of both states.
Health Warning
Medical authorities alerted that there was an higher risk of epidemic thunderstorm asthma across the northern rural areas, specifically given the ongoing climate situation.
This caution comes after past events where comparable situations led to major medical consequences in the area.
