19 of Daniil Medvedev's twenty-one championships have been achieved on hard surfaces
A resurgent Daniil Medvedev secured his initial title for 882 days with victory over opponent Moutet in the competition title decider.
The athlete, a former number one, has experienced a difficult year, managing just one match at the Grand Slams and suffering a meltdown at the New York tournament.
Medvedev's varied form on the ATP Tour - and issues with his serve in especial - led to him falling of the elite rankings and finally separating with former trainer his previous coach.
Presently collaborating with his coach and his other coach, Medvedev has gradually improved in the last few weeks - climaxing in a closely contested three-set victory over challenger Moutet.
It is the player's initial title after the 2023 Rome Masters and initial on a hard court since that period of 2023.
Success also signifies the Russian has won twenty-one victories at twenty-one different tournaments.
"It's the first time I am participating in a event with my two daughters together, so to win a trophy is especially meaningful," said world number 14 Medvedev.
"This championship is in honour of my child my daughter, because the maiden victory I won when my child my daughter was delivered was for her."
The tennis star, the past champion, had been defeated in his past six finals, including in Halle earlier this year.
Medvedev's retrieving approach and recurring emotional displays on court had prompted observers to doubt if his skill to play at the highest level was concluded.
But the athlete has made changes in the past month, making an effort to come to the net and compete aggressively, reinforced by an improved service.
He recovered from a disadvantage in the first set against the tricky opponent, securing four of the concluding five games to gain the advantage.
Both players traded service breaks in the second set before the challenger, striving for his initial ATP Tour title, gained dominance to force a decider.
He defended four early break points in a tight deciding set before Medvedev broke to fifteen to serve for the match.
Appropriately, Medvedev secured the win with a rally at the net area, with the Frenchman incapable to control a volley after over two and a half hours.
